You have a Cad-programm? you can design it firs and the programm makes the calculations. Let the shape of the combustion chamber as bevor and make it only wider to have more room.
22 juli 2019 om 12:12 #788773Some progress onthe CNC-carter yesterday.
We finnished the bracket for the stator, only thing left on the carter is to drill some holes for cylinder and the reed valve.Enjoy, atleast I did ๐
22 juli 2019 om 16:36 #788777Looks very goodย ๐ฟ
22 juli 2019 om 16:40 #788779Amazing work. Props.
How much time did it take to draw the bracket? And for the machine to ‘CNC it’?46 Pinasco, Malossi RV, Schijfrem, Fox Vario
Gele Racefrikandel22 juli 2019 om 23:35 #788790Thanks guys!
Oh, I don’t really know.
– But I guess 3-4h to draw it in CAD, not including taking measurments.
– 3h to do first side of the bracket
– 4h for the other side (yesterday), took a bit longer because we had indicate/dial in the piece after flipping it.We don’t setup all the toolpaths at once, usually make 1 toopath and while machine is running it, we create the next one. This is a quite slow machine from the mid 1980’s. Modern machines can do this much faster and more accurate. But this is only for hobby, and when doing hobby it’s okay to take long time. ๐ (Soon it is 1 year ago I started do draw first version of the motor)
For fun, I uploaded the braket on a couple of online CNC services, they want about 500โฌ for the bracket
23 juli 2019 om 15:52 #788795I like your ingenuity. Using the 3jaw-chuck from (most probably) your lathe to hold the part.

Home made engine dyno23 juli 2019 om 20:07 #788799Yeah just hobby , but your are taking to the next level ๐
25 juli 2019 om 09:33 #788824@ArwidW, it was the best way to find The center of The piece, Because we forgot to mill though the piece when doing first side. ๐ yesterday fasteing was more McGyver, haha
@tiesman1986 we dont even know IF this carter workes or IF its just eye candy haha.
Some more progress yesterday. I would say The carter is almost finnished. I will make a test aaemble of it as soon as possibly.
25 juli 2019 om 19:58 #788838Just like the theme song of A.F.C AJAX ” ever little thing is going to be alright ” hahah .
See you 3 Aug at Groningen25 juli 2019 om 20:04 #788839Haha, chill down.. I haven’t decided yet.. probably I will not be able to make it. ๐
What colors should I anodize the “Shelf queen”? ๐25 juli 2019 om 20:19 #788840Awesomeย ๐ฎ
8 augustus 2019 om 19:39 #789202Haven’t figured out why it’s vibrating.. so I ordered a new crank-shaft and bearings to rule that out on the daily driver. Curuous to see ho this crank will do with SE carter and DR63 compared to the Brom-kuk I have now. Perhaps it’s toomuch of the good stuff?
On one of the brommers we bought, there was an old-type Proma that I took for my Daily driver.. the damper is much more pleasent.. But I guess Leovince is even better.
Also bought Malossi gears for the racer.. I think it will be needed, atleast reinforced, we’ll see about the ratio.
9 augustus 2019 om 22:23 #789232I’m getting tired of all low quality vespa parts, haha..
Installed the new Athena crankshaft, it runs smooth in the carter.. however the flywheel drops down too deep so it’s scratching against the carter when tighing it up.. This makes the Vario go deeper aswell so the inner disc is scratching the frame.. FML. Didn’t have this problem with the Piaggio kruk.
Running the Pinasco flywheel aswell, but it worked fine with the Piaggio kruk.
@martino you have this Athena kruk, have you tested it, or is it still in the box? Any complications?
10 augustus 2019 om 06:39 #789240Big fun. Allot of parts fit bad strait out of the box, welcome to aftermarket moped parts world..my pinasco flywheel fitment is not that great also. The balance factor of the Crankshaft is something the discuss allot about, or should I ask wish balance factor. The base weight is to light to start any way. It works in a low rpm application..
12 augustus 2019 om 17:40 #789265Yeah.. tired of it! Thats for sure. ๐
Good job Athena, only 1mm off. ๐
